Shale Shaker Screens
Premium OEM and replacement screens engineered for long service life and high separation efficiency — a direct fit for the shakers already on your rig.
Why the shaker screen matters
The shale shaker is the first stage of purification in a rig's mud recycling system — and one of its most important pieces of equipment.
It separates large, unwanted solids from the drilling fluid, recovers the useful liquid and reduces filtration loss. That cuts the need for new drilling mud, lowers mud material costs and brings down total drilling cost. With more fluid recycled and fewer solids carried through, the cost of drilling waste disposal falls too.
Screens are consumed in large numbers over a drilling campaign, so their quality has a direct, positive or negative, impact on well cost. A screen with a long service life is essential to recovering drilling fluid efficiently.
-
Recover more fluid
Maximum removal of unwanted solids while returning valuable drilling fluid to the active system.
-
Lower mud cost
Reduced filtration loss means less new mud and lower spend on mud materials.
-
Less waste to handle
Fewer solids in the fluid and more fluid recycled reduce drilling waste disposal costs.
Choosing the right screen
Shaker screens add significantly to well cost. The wrong screen drives that cost up and pulls rig efficiency down; the right one delivers strong solids control results at a lower operating cost.
Cost and efficiency are always closely linked. When selecting a screen, pay particular attention to the screen design and the size of the opening.
Leading manufacturers have invested heavily in screen structure and mesh design — Derrick introduced the pyramid (PMD) screen and MI SWACO the composite frame screen. Marshall builds on that best practice to develop better screen technology and to produce premium-quality replacement screens, all with one goal: maximum solids separation, maximum fluid recovery, longer screen life and minimum drilling cost.

A precise fit for the shakers you run
Marshall replacement screens are designed as direct replacements for the leading shaker brands and are built to fit most known shale shakers.
Our quality system and raw material selection criteria are audited periodically, backed by a strict non-compliance reporting system and product testing protocol. All screens are API compliant.

How a screen is described
The key terms used to compare screen performance, in line with API RP 13C labelling.
- 01Open area
- The non-blanked area of the screen cloth.
- 02Conductance
- The volume of fluid that can pass through one square foot of screen cloth.
- 03Usable screening area
- The open area, in square feet, per screen.
- 04Transmittance
- The total fluid-handling capacity of one screen.
- 05Cut point
- The separation potential of a Marshall screen for particles of various sizes.
