Clean mud. Lower well cost.
Solids control equipment removes drilled solids by mechanical separation to keep drilling mud in balance. Marshall manufactures the full series of mud solids control and drilling waste management equipment.
Staged separation, from coarse cuttings to ultra-fines
Each phase of a solids control system targets a smaller particle size. Getting every stage right recovers more usable drilling fluid, reduces mud and disposal costs, and protects downstream equipment.
Marshall designs and manufactures equipment for every stage — and continuously works with drilling teams to propose the optimal configuration for each rig and mud system.
Five stages to clean, reusable fluid
-
01
> 100 µm
Shale shaker
Primary solids control. Drilling fluid shale shakers separate drilled solids coarser than 100 microns — the first and most important line of defence.
-
02
> 47 µm
Desander
Second-phase separation of drilled cuttings larger than 47 microns using 10″ hydrocyclone cones sized to the system flow rate.
-
03
> 15 µm
Desilter
Third-phase separation of cuttings larger than 15 microns using multiple 4″ desilter cones — the number of cones sets the flow capacity.
-
04
Cuttings
Waste management
After solids control, drilled cuttings are further treated with drilling waste management equipment such as vertical cuttings dryers and linear-motion drying shakers.
-
05
Ultra-fine
Dewatering
A chemically enhanced dewatering system separates ultra-fine solids, cleaning the drilling fluid so it can be reused.
Desander cones by system flow rate
Desanders are configured with 10″ cones to match the circulating rate of the solids control system. Desilters use multiple 4″ cones, with the number of cones determined by the required flow rate.
Ask for a system configuration| System flow rate | 10″ desander cones | Cut point |
|---|---|---|
| 500 GPM | 1 | > 47 µm |
| 1,000 GPM | 2 | > 47 µm |
| 1,500 GPM | 3 | > 47 µm |
Built for today's environmental standards
With the development of environmental protection, closed-loop solids control systems have become the norm. Pairing solids control with drilling waste management keeps more fluid in circulation and less waste leaving the site.
Recover more fluid
Maximum removal of useless solids returns more usable mud to the active system.
Reduce waste
Dryers and dewatering cut the volume and cost of drilling waste disposal.
